Pranav Pinapala
Pranav is a second-year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in Public Policy and Public Health. He first discovered the issues with the U.S. healthcare system in his high school years and began to recognize the problems with the cost of life-saving medication. He began to analyze the complex dynamic between pharmaceutical patenting, university licensing policies, and the way drug prices are manipulated. This inspired him to start an advocacy group to network with key stakeholders, advocate for policy change, and empower students in the health equity movement. After continuing his advocacy with Generation Patient through health policy analysis and leading educational forms, Pranav transitioned to working with UAEM on leading change in our health access movement through university advocacy and policy improvement. He is excited to continue working to ensure affordable access to life-saving medications globally.
