Your contribution will help to make the conference possible by supporting UAEM Europe in the provision of essential logistics. Attendees will be provided with accommodation for 2 nights, and several meals during the event, taking place from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th April.
If you are a local Berlin student we are pleased to offer a reduced 10 Euro ticket to attend the conference!
Travel Arrangements: If you are travelling to Berlin, we encourage all participants to book their travels as early as possible to secure the best travel offers out there. Apply for travel assistance here! We only have 10 spaces left!
Please note, you must be a member of UAEM Europe to be eligible for travel assistance. If you are a student in Europe and would like to become a member of UAEM Europe, please submit the membership form to office@uaem.org.

Cohorts
Your chapter will be trained as a cohort along with other chapters across North America. Some training sessions will be conducted with the entire cohort, while others will be with your chapter only.
Getting a chapter started or trying to reinvigorate a chapter is a challenging task. Training with other chapters will provide a great opportunity for everyone to help each other, build connections, and power through the journey together!

UAEM Training Camp, Berlin
We are excited to announce the dates of UAEM's 2023 Training Camp in Berlin, Friday 3rd November - Sunday 5th November!
What is the Training Camp? The UAEM Training Camp is a dynamic gathering designed exclusively for UAEMers, where like-minded individuals come together to nurture their skills. It's an opportunity to cultivate both soft skills and technical knowledge that will empower us in our quest for improved access to medicines. Beyond that, it's a safe space to foster self-confidence as activists and forge new friendships across chapters.
Who can attend? The Training Camp welcomes enthusiastic young individuals who are embarking on their UAEM journey and are eager to enhance their technical prowess and soft skills. By the end of this weekend, participants will be armed with the essential skills and tools necessary to excel in their roles as UAEM leaders. This opportunity is particularly valuable for new members who have just joined UAEM this semester.
What will be covered? UAEM will provide accommodation and 75% reimbursement on travel expenses up to a reasonable amount.

📣 Calling for Aspiring Trainers! 📣
Are you a passionate UAEM member with a desire to elevate your training skills and take on a role as a trainer apprentice for our upcoming 3-day event? This is a golden opportunity to work with the experienced trainers leading the training camp, and enhance your facilitation abilities and make a meaningful impact.
Criteria:
Essential
Availability to travel to Berlin between 1st-6th November
2-3 hours per week commitment for training calls and session planning (this will increase in the week running up to the training camp)
Desirable
Minimal prior experience in facilitation and training i.e. experience in workshop coordination, attendance at the 2022 Training Camp
Training apprentices will work with three experienced training mentors, who will play a strong supporting and guiding role to empower the apprentices and allow them to improve their skills.
How to Apply:
Complete the Expression of Interest by 9am on Monday, September 25th.

Workshop on Transforming Discoveries into Products: Maximizing NIH’s Levers to Catalyze Technology Transfer
NIH will host a virtual workshop on July 31, 2023, to discuss policies and practices that shape biomedical innovation and promote access to NIH-funded discoveries. Goals will include discussing how NIH, as a research institution, approaches the patenting and licensing of biomedical inventions. There will also be discussion on the agency’s role in the broader biomedical research enterprise in promoting the application of knowledge to enhance human health.
Details on the workshop, including the agenda and information about viewing the videocast and providing public comment, can be found on the OSP website. Please note that slots for oral comments will be provided in the order they are received until all slots have been filled. In addition to the opportunity to make oral comments during the workshop, NIH invites written comments from the public. For those wishing to have written comments considered prior to the workshop, those comments must be received by July 27, 2023.
