As students committed to advancing equity in our education, academic researchers committed to advancing equity in clinical research practice, and clinicians committed to advancing equity in clinical care and for our patients, we pledge to:
Challenge Biases: We will actively identify and address biases in clinical research, algorithms and equations that disproportionately impact racial minorities’ health..
Review and Revise: We commit to regularly reviewing clinical research practice, equations and algorithms for fairness and accuracy across diverse racial groups within research and clinical initiatives and aim to achieve equity in diagnosis and care..
Educate and Empower: We will educate ourselves and our peers on the implications of race-based clinical equations and race in research. We’ll empower our peers and advocate for change.
Collaborate for Change: We pledge to collaborate with researchers, policymakers, community-members, and stakeholders to develop and implement inclusive, evidence-based practices in our respective research fields.
Monitor and Evaluate: We will establish metrics and benchmarks to monitor progress towards equitable clinical equations, ensuring accountability and transparency to ensure sustainable change related to race-based clinical equations.
Listen and Learn: We promise to listen to the experiences and perspectives of patients and communities affected by inequities, incorporating their feedback into our practices.
Advance Equity: We will advocate for policies and practices that promote equity in healthcare, striving for a future where all individuals receive fair and just treatment related to research findings.
