CJ Cole

UAEM Johns Hopkins University

CJ Cole is a junior at Johns Hopkins University studying environmental engineering and molecular and cellular biology. He joined UAEM in 2022 and currently serves as the Secretary of the Johns Hopkins Chapter. Formerly an intern at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health IDEA Initiative, he worked with ReAct Action on Antibiotic Resistance to raise awareness of excessive antimicrobial use in food systems. His research now revolves around mechanisms of antibiotic tolerance in bacteria, specifically the upregulation of motility in Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Outside of the lab, CJ enjoys volunteering for STEM enrichment programs in Baltimore City schools and lobbying for public health interests.
