Case Western Reserve University signs SPS

In April 2014, Case Western Reserve University joined 30 other endorsers of the “Statement of Principles and Strategies for the Equitable Dissemination of Medical Technologies” (SPS), a key policy document for socially responsible health research licensing.

Following the rousing North American UAEM conference in November, UAEM-CWRU focused their energies towards dialogue with the university’s Vice President of Research to achieve SPS sign-on. After learning about the other great institutions that have signed onto the the SPS and spurred by the desire to continue to do well on the Scorecard, the administration was happy to sign on. The CWRU is now making plans to follow up with implementation of the principles of the SPS and is working with a faculty ally to incorporate a Global Access Licensing Framework licensee into technology he has invented and is currently pushing through the university technology transfer office.
