Nur Huda Khamis

Nur Huda Khamis is a student of MSc Epidemiology at Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin. As a criminology major in her bachelors, she grew passionate for advocacy work on social issues, particularly those related to privilege. She believes that social institutions shape not only norms and values but individual behaviours. Thus, she partakes in community programs that promote equity and contribute to the betterment of both individuals and society. Professionally, her most recent stint is for the Ministry of Health Singapore primarily in genomic surveillance of COVID-19 and community surveillance of Acute Respiratory Infection. She is currently working on her Master’s thesis relating to syndromic surveillance of certain infectious diseases in Germany.

Beyond her personal and professional interests, she is a daughter, a sister to four siblings and an aunt to 9 little rascals. When she is back home in Singapore, she cat-sits for her friends. She learned to swim at age 27 just so she could snorkel in Thailand. She still does not know how to cycle and rely on the power of walking.
